What is SEO?
SEO is short for Search Engine Optimisation and since the emergence of search engines like Google & Yahoo, SEO is becoming more and more important as the position you appear on the search engine result page (SERP) is critical for users to reach the website you have just painstakingly created.
Basically, SEO is a set of methods aimed at improving the ranking of a website in search engine listings. Basically, there are 2 types of SEO:
- White-hat SEO: typically uses methods approved by search engines (which I personally prefer)
- Black-hat SEO: uses tricks to exploit some weaknesses and loopholes of search engine bots (e.g. spamdexing)
Naturally, SEO is closely related to internet marketing and advertising since the more people search engines drive to your site, the higher the possibility of your website making money!
